Training Resources Include: Cooking in the Classroom Training
This training introduces teachers to planning, recipe selection, and food safety tips for successful classroom cooking. Foundations of Nutrition - Dietary Guidelines for Americans
This one-hour training introduces the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2005. Foundations of Nutrition - MyPyramid
During this 30-to 45-minute training, teachers and staff assess their intake and compare the results to MyPyramid recommendations. Foundations of Nutrition - The Nutrition Facts Label
This 30- to 45-minute training provides participants with a practical overview of food labeling and applying this information to making better nutrition decisions. Harvest of the Month Training
This 70-minute training prepares teachers and other staff to implement the Harvest of the Month program developed by the Network for a Healthy California, California Department of Public Health.

Link between Nutrition and Physical Activity, and Academic Achievement, The
This one-hour training provides background on current student eating and activity patterns and their impact on student health and academic performance. SHAPE California 2008-09 Presentations

These PowerPoint presentations were created by the California Department of Education, Nutrition Services Division to support SHAPE (Shaping Health As Partners in Education) partners and agencies improve the health and academic success of California’s children.

Skills Density Training
This program addresses the importance of skill-based nutrition education to bringing about student behavior change. It presents lesson examples and resources to promote student skill development based on the California Health Education Content Standards. Standards-Based Nutrition Education (SBNE) Training
With the adoption of the California Health Education Content Standards in March 2008, the Nutrition Services Division of the California Department of Education and the Network for a Healthy California funded production and delivery of this training. It outlines the organization and content of the standards, presents the steps of skill-based instruction, and provides opportunities for participants to review and identify standards-based lessons.
